| Singaporean Hotcard Technology PTE Ltd., premier developer of compact Chinese language OCR technology will team up with the WizCom Technologies (Israel), creator of the world's first OCR on-a-chip, to develop Chinese OCR on-a-chip for handheld products. By merging Hotcard's superior Chinese OCR capabilities with WizCom's OCR on-a-chip technology the companies will develop the world's leading Chinese OCR software solution for mobile devices

The project proposal for Chinese OCR-On-A-Chip for Handheld Products of Hotcard Technology PTE Ltd and WizCom Technologies Ltd. (WizCom) has been approved for funding by SIIRDF. SIIRDF, a non-profit R&D support fund developed by the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore and the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS), Ministry of Industry and Trade of Israel was established in 1997 to promote, facilitate and support joint industrial R&D projects between Singaporean and Israeli high-tech companies.
¡°Receiving approval from SIIRDF for the funding of our project, was extremely gratifying¡±, says Amit Ben-Zvi, CEO of WizCom Technologies. ¡°Integration of this technology onto WizCom's products will enable users to translate Chinese texts instantaneously or scan, save and transfer printed text to PC or PDAs. Users of Chinese texts will simply scan in information, thus overcoming the cumbersome task of keying in data from the, 14,000 character, Chinese alphabet. Clearly these applications are the tip of the iceberg¡±, explains Ben-Zvi. ¡°Uses for Chinese OCR on-a-chip on mobile devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs, are virtually endless.
